University of Illinois Board Hopes To Lock In Tuition For Freshman

The University of Illinois Board of Trustees is considering a plan to prevent a bigger tuition bill for incoming freshmen from within the state.

The proposal that will be reviewed January 15th would keep tuition for incoming freshmen at the current rate. Out of state tuition would go up by two percent.

U of I officials hope the proposal can help middle class students who make too much money to qualify for financial aid, but make too little to pay for tuition on their own.
