Local Man Recognized For Notifying Elderly Couple of House Fire

 width=Thanks to the efforts of a local citizen in late November, an elderly couple may have been spared from a house fire that could have been much worse than it was.

Monday night in a special presentation at the Clinton City Council meeting, Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers recognized the efforts of Robert Houston. The Chief explains Houston noticed smoke coming from the couple's residence in the early morning hours Nov. 22, and persistently tried to get them notified of what was going on and get them to safety.

 width=The couple who is elderly, could not be at Monday night's presentation, but Chief Lowers passed along their appreciation of the efforts of Houston.

Because of Houston's efforts, the couple was spared from what could have been a major tragedy.
