Notre Dame Edges UNC; Oklahoma Routes Texas

The top shooting team in the country missed eight shots in a row.

The ninth one fell, giving No. 13 Notre Dame its biggest win of the season.

Zach Auguste's bucket with 1:07 remaining lifted the Fighting Irish to a 71-70 win over No. 18 North Carolina on Monday, the program's first victory over the Tar Heels in almost 23 years.

Auguste led Notre Dame (15-1, 3-0 ACC) with 18 points, Pat Connaughton scored 16 and Demetrius Jackson had 15, including 12 in the first half when the Irish led by as many as 10.

Jerian Grant had eight points and eight assists for the Irish before fouling out late in the game.

Meeks and J.P. Tokoto scored 12 points each for the Tar Heels (11-4, 1-1), who trailed by as much as 11 in the second half.

(Austin, TX) -- Javan Felix was the only player in double figures with 13 points as 10th-ranked Texas lost 70-49 to 18th-ranked Oklahoma in Austin. Isaiah Taylor tallied nine points on 4-of-13 shooting for the Longhorns, who fell to 12-and-3 on the year and 1-and-1 in Big 12 play. UT travels to Oklahoma State on Saturday.

(Undated) -- Kentucky is again on top of the latest "USA Today" Coaches' Poll. The 13-and-0 Wildcats received 31 of 32 first-place votes to beat out the 13-and-0 Duke Blue Devils, who are ranked second and got the other first-place vote. Virginia is third, followed by Wisconsin and Louisville. Arizona, Gonzaga, Villanova, Maryland and Texas round out the top-10. Washington, Colorado State and San Diego State all fell out of the rankings this week.
