Illinois, Illinois State Win; Bradley Routed By Wichita State

Illinois wondered who would score with Rayvonte Rice injured, and Malcolm Hill provided the answer Wednesday with a career-high 28 points in a 64-57 upset over No. 11 Maryland.

Hill turned it on in the second half with 18 points. The sophomore's hot hand fueled a 20-3 run that the Illini (11-5, 1-2) used to take over the game.

Rice is Illinois' leading scorer and rebounder but will be out up to six weeks after breaking his left hand this week in practice. His loss left Illinois looking at possibility of a 0-3 conference start with its next two games on the road.

Hill added seven rebounds. Nnanna Egwu led Illinois with nine.

Melo Trimble led the cold-shooting Terrapins (14-2, 2-1 Big Ten) with 17 points. Maryland shot just 36.5 percent from the field.

Daishon Knight scored 15 points, MiKyle McIntosh had 10 with nine rebounds and Illinois State rolled past Drake for an 81-45 victory on Wednesday night.

Paris Lee chipped in 12 points and Tony Wills had 10 with six assists for the Redbirds (9-6, 1-2 Missouri Valley), who shot 56.6 percent from the field and had a 38-21 rebounding advantage. Justin McCloud hit three of Illinois State's nine 3-pointers.

Drake (3-12, 0-3) was held to 14-of-44 shooting (31.8 percent), gave up 21 points off turnovers and another 12 on second-chance opportunities. Chris Caird was the lone scorer in double figures for the Bulldogs with 15 points and Trevor Berkeley had nine.

Illinois State pulled away with a 32-8 run sparked by a pair of 3-pointers from both McCloud and Lee for a 36-16 lead in the first half. The Redbirds coasted in the second half, leading by as much as 44.

Darius Carter scored a game-high 19 points and No. 15 Wichita State beat Bradley 63-43 on Wednesday night.

The Shockers defeated the Braves after trailing at halftime for just the second time this season.

Wichita State (13-2, 3-0 Missouri Valley Conference) has won 25 consecutive games at home and 21 in a row in the MVC. The Shockers also have won 10 in a row against Bradley, including the past six at home.

Ron Baker scored 12 and Shaquille Morris added 10 points Wichita State.

Ka'Darryl Bell led the Braves (6-10, 1-2) with 11 points. Tramique Sutherland and Auston Barnes each added 10.
