In the wake of reports concerning neglect and abuse with facilities contracted through the Department of Children and Family Services, the director of the state agency is on her way out.
Bobbie Gregg told a panel of lawmakers Wednesday she is stepping down after January 19th. Illinois News Network has more:
The hearing on abuses included recommendations from advocacy groups and even former wards of the state. Some of those suggestions are to having a lockbox for wards to provide tips and reports about their care inside residential facilities that only DCFS officials can access. Rethinking therapy options and include more children in panel discussions were also provided as recommendations.
