Could there be an effort to increase taxes to fill the state’s budget deficit?
The short answer is yes, but it’s unclear what form the tax will take. One state senator says there may not be any other option to fix the problem in the short term other than a combination of cuts, business reforms and raising taxes. Illinois News Network has more:

Earlier this week House Speaker Mike Madigan said the upcoming budget is expected to have a deficit of over five-and-a-half billion dollars.
