Schools across the state will likely never see the $1 billion dollar cut Voices for Illinois Children are warning about.
But the group’s Emily Miller says the numbers don’t lie, and Illinois is broke.

Miller says the rollback of the 2011 income tax hike will short the state about $2 billion.
Illinois schools are already being shortchanged, they receive about 89-cents on the dollar of the promised $6,119 in state aid.
Some schools fear that could drop to 85-cents in the next state budget.
