Mayor Commends Emergency Responders For Jan. 9 Fire

Monday night, the hot topic was the January 9 fire on Clinton's east side and the cooperation between several agencies in the community.

For Clinton Mayor Carolyn Peters, it was great to see all the various organizations and entities working together. The Mayor stepped up during the course of the afternoon and opened up the Clinton City Council's chambers for the victims.

For the Mayor, she says it was one of her first experience seeing the Red Cross in action. She feels it was interesting to see how they operate and the way they were able to assist the victims.

Also among the challenges facing first responders was keeping the firefighters warm. The Mayor applauds the efforts of EMA officials who were able to coordinate opening up the DeWitt County EMS building for firefighters to find warmth and food on a day where wind chills were well below zero.
