Some House Republicans are teeing up a constitutional amendment to combine the Comptroller and Treasurers offices.
The amendment would combine the two offices into the office of Comptroller of the Treasury. Co-sponsor, Republican State Rep. Rich Brauer of Petersburg says the checks and balances concerns that have been a stumbling block to a merger can easily be addressed.

The proposed amendment has the support of current Comptroller Leslie Munger, Treasurer Michael Frerichs and Governor Rauner. The bill has been referred to the Rules Committee of the Illinois House, where it awaits approval and passage to the Illinois House.
