Illinois State Student Hit By Vehicle Dies

Illinois State University and the McLean County coroner say an ISU student has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Coroner Kathleen Davis said 20-year-old Benjamin Allison of Crystal Lake died Tuesday at a hospital in Bloomington. Davis said an autopsy will be conducted.

Officials say Allison was walking through an intersection in Normal on Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle. He was found lying in the intersection. ISU is in Normal, just north of Bloomington.

Police say another ISU student is in custody in the case.

ISU President Larry Dietz said Allison was a communications major and worked at the ISU radio station, WZND.
