Red Sox, Rangers Swap Young Pitchers

 width=The Boston Red Sox acquired pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. from the Texas Rangers in exchange for right-hander Anthony Ranaudo on Tuesday.

Ross, 25, posted a 3-6 record and a 6.20 earned run average over 27 appearances (four starts) last season.

Over three seasons with the Rangers, Ross owns a 13-8 record with a 3.98 ERA and 156 strikeouts in 150 games.

Ranaudo, 25, made his major league debut with the Red Sox last season and went 4-3 with a 4.81 ERA over seven starts.

The right-hander spent most of last season with Triple-A Pawtucket, where he compiled a 14-4 record with a 2.61 ERA and 11 strikeouts. He was named the International League's most valuable player after leading the league in wins, ERA and opponent batting average (.223).
