Unemployment figures decreased throughout many local counties in December as local unemployment figures were released Thursday afternoon.
DeWitt County saw unemployment go down from 6.0% in November to 5.8 in December
Piatt County also decreased slightly, going from 5.5% to 5.3%.
Macon County's unemployment decreased going from 7.9% in November to 7.5% in December.
Logan County saw unemployment go from 6.3% to 6.1%.
Unemployment in McLean County shrank in December, going from 5.6% to 5.3%.
In Champaign County, employment also decreased,down to 5.5%.
Unemployment in Sangamon County went down at 5.6%.
The highest unemployment rate was at 9% in Stark County.
Brown County once again had the state's lowest unemployment rate at 2.7%.
The state's unemployment dropped, going from 6.0% to 5.7% in December. The national unemployment rate sits at 5.4%.
