>>Angels' Hamilton To Undergo Shoulder Surgery

(Anaheim, CA) -- Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton will undergo surgery to repair the AC joint in his right shoulder on Wednesday. The 33-year-old can resume baseball activities in as early as three weeks, but the procedure will likely sideline the slugger up to two months. Hamilton was limited to just 89 games last season due to various injuries and hit .263 with 10 homers and 44 RBI. The 2010 AL MVP had 21 home runs and 79 RBI in 151 games in his first season with the Halos in 2013, after signing a five-year, 125-million-dollar contract.

(Miami, FL) -- After being struck by a pitch in the face last season, Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo [[ john-carlo ]] Stanton will wear a protective guard on his batting helmet. Stanton tells MLB Network he is planning on wearing extra protection all season, as long as it doesn't hinder his vision at the plate. The 25-year-old suffered facial fractures from the hit by pitch and says he has yet to regain full feeling in his lip. Stanton signed a 325-million-dollar contract extension in November and has been cleared for all physical activity.
