County Board Approves Northern DeWitt County Property For Billboards

width=More advertising billboards could be coming to the Village of Wapella soon.

Last Thursday night, the DeWitt County Board approved a measure that would allow for more advertising billboards to be placed in Wapella, this time though, on the south side of the small village. According to David Newberg, County Board Chair, the billboards would be similar to the ones on the north side, with two boards per stand.

The property the company, WC Media, was seeking to use is on the south side of Wapella at the corner of US Highway 51 and Thorpes Road. According to Newberg, the company was requesting a double-deck billboards on each side of the road, but because of issues with a home in the vicinity, only one was granted.

With the approval of the change in zoning regulation at the site, Newberg anticipates WC Media would begin the process of getting the property prepared for the structure to host the billboards, in hopes of having those up soon.
