As heard on 92.3 FM WHOW and streamed live on dewittdailynews.com, the Clinton Lady Maroons defeated the Maroa-Forsyth Lady Trojans 61-38 Tuesday night in Regional basketball action.
After a first quarter bucket by Maroa-Forsyth, an early nine point lead was trimmed to 11-7 by the Lady Trojans, but the Lady Maroons defense was in lockdown mode the rest of the half, limiting Maroa-Forsyth to just 5 points the rest of the quarter and shut out the Lady Trojans for the first seven minutes of the second quarter stretching their halftime lead to 33-17.
For the Lady Maroons (12-15), Megan Tool scored a game high with 22 points. Haley Ginger added 13 and Peyton Bieber chipped in with 10 points.
For the Lady Trojans, they were playing without leading scorer Brenna Finck, who tore her ACL last week. In her absence, Tori Weis and Caroline Beckman had seven points apiece, with Payton Hoffman added five points.
With this win, the Lady Maroons will meet the Monticello Lady Sages in the Regional Championship on Thursday night at around 7 pm. We will have the action on 92.3 FM WHOW and streaming live on dewittdailynews.com.

Layne Buzan scored 22 points and the Monticello Lady Sages defense was lights out against the Warrensburg-Latham Lady Cardinals Tuesday night as Monticello routed W-L 55-17.
The Lady Sages defense was so suffocating Warrensburg-Latham never scored in double-figures in any quarter, and the Lady Sages move on to take on the Clinton Lady Maroons in a terrific Regional final matchup Thursday night from Maroa-Forsyth High School at 7pm.
