Northern Illinois University is beginning a two-year study of farmers markets and how to make them more popular. Meg Skelly with the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce says there are usually only about 15 vendors at Ottawa’s farmers market, and she’d like to see a lot more.

Ottawa is one of four communities in the study. The others are Beardstown, Sterling, and Dixon.
