A measure that would allow local school districts to bypass the state’s Charter School Commission has passed a committee hearing.
Democratic Representative Emanuel Welch says the issue doesn’t take away all the power of the Charter School Commission but empowers local school districts. Illinois News Network has more.

Regardless, there is sure to be more conversation about Charter Schools in Illinois. Democratic Representative Emily McAsey said she will file a resolution to spark more dialog about the public school alternative.
