The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team will play the University of Dubuque (23-5) at 5 p.m. tonight in the first round of the 62-team NCAA Division III basketball championships from Stevens Point, Wis.
The Spartans are in after winning the automatic qualifier from the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Led by Andre Norris, who is averaging 20.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game to lead the Spartans, and senior Gage Heffernan is averaging 14.3 points and 2.9 assists per game, Dubuque is in the NCAA Division III tournament for the second time in the last three years and for the sixth time overall.
Meanwhile, the Titans (19-8) are making their sixth straight and 24th overall NCAA tournament appearance in the 32 years of NCAA affiliation. Earning an at large bid, Wesleyan has mad a national championship appearance in 1997, third place finishes in 1996, 2001 and 2006 and semifinal appearances in 2012 and 2014.
