Illinois Baseball Takes Two Out of Three From #10 Oklahoma State

width=Senior David Kerian sent No. 27 Illinois to a road series victory on Sunday with a game-winning two-run home run in the 10th for a 4-2 win over No. 10 Oklahoma State. Junior Tyler Jay tossed three scoreless stanzas to earn his third win in relief of a solid start by senior John Kravetz.

The Fighting Illini captured a series win against a top-10 ranked opponent for the first time since taking two of three at No. 1 LSU (March 6-8, 2009). Illinois improved to 2-0 in extra-inning games and 11-3-1 overall, which is the program's best start since going 12-3 in 2009.

It was the bottom of the order that powered the Illini Sunday, as Pat McInerney went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs. David Kerian went 2-for-5 with a run and a pair of RBIs.

Casey Fletcher added an RBI and Ryne Roper scored a run in the win.

Illinois will host its home opener on Tuesday against Chicago State at 3 p.m. at Illinois Field.
