Clinton YMCA Trialing New Arts Program

width=In an effort to reach more youth in Clinton, the YMCA is hoping a new program they have will encourage more involvement.

Executive Director Rennie Cluver calls the new Arts Program an alternative for the more artistic kids of the community. Cluver says many of their programs are centered around sports and athletics, but he felt there wasn't anything available to students who aren't interested in those things.

An art program can be an expensive endeavor for a non-profit, but Cluver says the members of the YMCA came through donating items they needed. Now he says, they need volunteers to step up and be a part of the program.

The Art Program registration has ended, but Cluver says when the next session opens up, they will open registration again and at that point, more students can get involved. He says they meet weekly and are hoping to expand to host or go to different events in the next session.
