Blue Ridge To Expand Technology In Classrooms

Blue Ridge Schools introduced the first phase of a three year implementation of technology into their classrooms.

Seven teachers were given Chromebooks in the amount of 30 per classroom. According to Susan Wilson, Superintendent of Blue Ridge Schools, the introduction has been a lot of work but she feels it has been a big success.

The Google Chromebooks provide the district with a lot of conveniences other devices can't. Wilson explains the Chromebooks are web based, which means teachers can keep tabs on projects or provide feedback.

Wilson explains the Chromebooks are also a big help in customizing their curriculum. Wilson says with instant access to internet, her staff can get the students the most up to date information whereas traditional textbooks become dated in many subject areas very quickly.
