DeWitt County DOVE Hoping To Improve Outreach To Individuals

A local non-profit aimed at helping abused individuals in the community find support is hoping to hear from those they serve about ways they can better reach them.

DeWitt County DOVE is a safe haven for those who find themselves in the midst of an abusive situation in their personal lives, and according to Megan Neville, they want to hear about ways they can better reach out them. She explains this starts with finding if the support groups they have are Monday evenings, but they hope to hear if that is an idea time for others that would like to participate.

While the numbers in those that attend the support group have dwindled recently, Neville doesn't believe it is a case of abusive situations declining. She says it is a problem that every community deals with and wants to give as much support as possible in Clinton.

Neville explains the groups tend to have a lot of different formats. They many times will come to the group with topics pre-planned, however, Neville notes it can also take a more personal turn if members of the groups need individual support or find themselves in difficult circumstances and need advice.
