Mayor of Lincoln Has Resigned Due a New Opportunity from Governor Bruce Rauer's office.

The Mayor of Lincoln has resigned due a new opportunity from Governor Bruce Rauer's office.

Mayor Keith Snyder completed his last day as mayor on Monday and is looking ahead to a new position on the Illinois Labor Relations Board. To accept the appointment, Snyder has to resign from both his position as Mayor of Lincoln and from Lincoln Christian University where he serves as an associate vice president. He tendered his resignation via letter to the Lincoln City Council on Monday afternoon. The letter expresses Snyder's excitement at the prospect of the new job, but will greatly miss serving the people of Lincoln.

The City Council elected Martha Neitzel as a temporary chariman to run meetings until a new mayor is appointed at a later date. Snyder's position on the Labor Relations Board will still have to be approved by State Senate, though the appointment has already been made.

Stay tuned to Regional Radio News for comments from Snyder about his new position and time as Lincoln's Mayor.
