width=The weight room at Clinton High School was the focal point of nearly an hour of discussion Tuesday night at the Clinton Board of Education meeting.

According to Coach Hayden, he wants to see the weight room bring in multi-purpose racks. He explains that is something a lot of facilities have and he says it can help his classes and teams serve more individuals at once.

Teacher and coach Kay Wertz took exception to some of the plans. She recognizes the plans are much needed for the current facility, however, she points out she had just seen the plans this week and hopes more equipment will be included in all the upgrades.

According to Athletic Director Barry Gurvey, all the coaches have been asked about the new equipment, and he notes, he has yet to hear from many of them. He also notes, they are seeking each team to give $500 towards the effort.

It was suggested by the Board of Education to phase all the equipment in over time, however, Coach Hayden says that is not a good idea. He points to conference schools and schools in the area they have visited that have made wholesale changes at once and have top of the line facilities.

Gurvey notes, the athletic department has sought out funds from the athletic department, the athletic boosters, and has asked the school board to match what the athletic boosters invests.

The board approved the plans under the condition Hayden and Gurvey seek out the opinions of other coaches and bring their ideas to the table as well.
