Clinton Rotary To Host Alumni Basketball Game Saturday

A local community group is hosting one of their largest events of the year this weekend to benefit a DeWitt County non-profit organization.

The annual Alumni basketball game at Clinton High School has become a yearly tradition for many. Clinton High School alumni return to the gym where they played their high school athletics to support Habitat for Humanity. Event Coordinator Terry Ijams says the game was created 24 years ago and is sponsored by the Clinton Rotary. Graduates of varying ages have participated over the years.

A ladies game was added to the alumni game in 2005 and attracted even more support from the community. Ijams adds the public enjoys seeing their favorite stars from years past play again. The event also provides a time for old friends to reconnect while supporting a good cause.

This year's game, as always, is geared to be an event for the whole family. Ijams notes this year's game will feature many familiar names on each team. All four coaches are also names the Clinton community will know.

This year's ladies game will start at 6:30 on Saturday evening with the men following right after. Tickets are $5 for adults while children under 12 get in for free. All the proceeds from the game go to benefit Habitat For Humanity in DeWitt County.
