Lottery Directors Calls It a Day

Illinois Lottery Director Michael Jones isn't taking a chance on enjoying the coming years. He is resigning effective Friday and he's not exactly using Linked In friendly language in discussing his future. He told Illinois Lottery employees in a recent memo he's headed for the beach and his only plan is to take a "surfing vacation." Jones and former Governor Pat Quinn were under scrutiny for their plan to terminate the contract with Northstar, which was hired to run the lottery. They failed to meet revenue projections. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan rejected the deal, saying it was too generous and possibly illegal. Jones returned to the lottery chief post in 2011, 26 years after he left a previous stint as Lottery Director.
