DeWitt County Board Recognizes Local Volunteers, Encouraging Volunteering From Community

The DeWitt County Board Chair is encouraging community volunteerism next month.

Thursday night's Board meeting saw Board Chair David Newberg read a proclamation for National Volunteer Week in 2015. He noted the need for volunteers in all communities will be recognized throughout the country during the week in April. National Volunteer Week will also look to honor those who are committed to service.

The proclamation also stated that private citizens should step up and give of themselves where government is unable to. Newberg stated strong volunteerism contributes greatly to a strong and vital community.

Newberg concluded the proclamation by thanking Silvia Comfort ,with DeWitt County RSVP ,who has given sixteen years of service to DeWitt County. Comfort will be relocating soon and an open house in her honor will be held at the DeWitt County Friendship Center from 3-6pm today.

National Volunteer Week in DeWitt County will be observed April 12-18.
