House Passes Madigan Budget Fix

The Illinois House has passed Speaker Mike Madigan's emergency budget fix. The deal plugs a $1.6 billion dollar shortfall.

The best perspective of the impact of the state's budget woes and delayed payments is the newest member of the General Assembly, newly installed State Representative Tim Butler of Springfield who knows some crucial state supported businesses are in jeopardy.

The budget fix shifts $1.3 billion in so called special funds to help with the unbalanced budget. Various state programs are enduring a 2.25 percent cut in state funding.
