Work Continues At Demolished Clinton School Buildings

The former Webster and Washington Elementary schools in Clinton are now completely torn down, however, there is still more work to be done at the sites.

Superintendent of Clinton Schools, Dr. Jeff Holmes says with the buildings razed, only half of the work is done. He explains now there is a whole new process to prepare the ground for green space.

The open property is nearly ready to become green space and according to Dr. Holmes, each site is at different stages of it's progress. He adds despite the debris being gone from the sites, each one will continue to be fenced off until the grass comes in.

Dr. Holmes indicates when the weather has been good enough to be working, they have been putting in their work. He explains there was a completion deadline in the contract for May 1, otherwise, there would be substantial fines to each day the project wasn't complete. Dr. Holmes notes they are allowing the contractor some clemency on that deadline because of the factors of weather and their willingness to be working when the weather has been suitable for work.
