Bears Sign Top Two Picks; NFL Notes

The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with first-round draft pick wide receiver Kevin White on a four-year contract with a fifth-year option and second-round draft pick defensive lineman Eddie Goldman on a four-year contract Wednesday.

width=White appeared in 24 games with 22 starts in two seasons (2013-14) at West Virginia, collecting 144 receptions for 1,954 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a senior, he ranked fifth in the FBS in receptions (109) and sixth in receiving yards (1,447) to go along with 10 touchdowns.

He was one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award (given to the nation's best receiver) and a Maxwell Award Semifinalist (College Player of the Year).

Goldman appeared in 37 games (27 starts) during three seasons (2012-14) at Florida State, recording 62 tackles, six sacks, 12 tackles for losses, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

In 2014, he led the Seminoles with four sacks and added eight tackles for losses to go along with 35 defensive tackles, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery and pass break-up.

The Bears have now agreed to terms with five of their six 2015 draft picks.

>>Pats Release CB Dennard, Claimed By Arizona

Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was among three players placed on waivers by the New England Patriots Tuesday.

Dennard started 20 games and logged five interceptions in three seasons with New England, which selected the former Nebraska standout in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was active for only six games in 2014 before landing on injured reserve prior to Week 17.

The Arizona Cardinals then claimed him off waivers.

Dennard will likely compete for playing time behind veterans Patrick Peterson and Jerraud Powers in Arizona.

The Patriots had just selected two defensive backs in this past weekend's draft, nabbing Stanford safety Jordan Richards in the second round and Marshall cornerback Darryl Roberts in the seventh.

Linebacker Deontae Skinner and long snapper Tyler Ott also were released by New England. Skinner appeared in seven games as an undrafted rookie last season, recording 16 tackles and one sack.

>>Ed Reed To Retire A Raven

Nine-time Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed is retiring, and will do so as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Reed will announce his retirement Thursday afternoon at the Ravens' training complex.

Reed, who was drafted 24th overall by the Ravens out of the University of Miami in 2002, spent his first 11 seasons as a member of the Baltimore secondary before splitting the 2013 season between the Houston Texans and New York Jets.

The 36-year-old led the Ravens with five interceptions during his rookie campaign and finished with 64, ranking sixth all-time in NFL history. He had the most multi-interception games with 13 and is tied with Charlie Waters, Bill Simpson and Ronnie Lott for the most in postseason history with nine.

A five-time First Team All-Pro, Reed recorded five tackles and an interception in Baltimore's 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.
