Clinton Police Making Effort To Be More Active In Schools

The Clinton Police Department has made a recent effort to keep a prominent presence in the local community, and now they are focused on the schools.

The department has become much more interactive in the past year and according to Chief Ben Lowers, they are becoming more visible in the schools.

A new program in the physical education curriculum focuses on self-defense. Chief Lowers stresses the class teaches students how not to be a victim. Along with the new PE program, their D.A.R.E. program continues to be active, which recenly wrapped up this spring.

According to the Chief, the D.A.R.E. graduation last month was followed by the D.A.R.E. Fair which gave students a chance to show off their D.A.R.E. projects for the school year.
