UPDATED: Clinton Maroons Fall to Monticello Sages

As heard on 95.9 FM WEZC, The Big 1520 AM/92.3 FM WHOW and online at dewittdailynews.com, the Monticello Sages used a 9-run first inning and Tyler Jones threw four shutout innings as Monticello blasted Clinton Wednesday afternoon, 13-0 in non-conference boys baseball action.

 width=Tyler Jones struck out eight yielding two runs and didn't allow a walk for the victory.

Ryne Bundy finished with four RBIs on a 2-for-3 afternoon. David Vanderkloot finished with a pair of RBIs and went 2-for-4. Daniel Peterson added a two-RBI double in the nine-run first.

For the Maroons, Dylan Walsh scored the only run on the afternoon. Walsh, Trenton Fryman and Josh Hickman provided the three Maroons hits.

Clinton drops to 7-17 while Monticello improves to 24-5.

The Sages will host St. Joe-Ogden this afternoon in a makeup of an earlier rainout. The showdown not only holds great importance int he Okaw Valley Conference, but could be a likely preview of a Regional showdown next week in Tuscola.

The Maroons start Regional play next week, in the Olympia Regional.
