Illini's Kerian Collects Second Big Ten Player of the Week

 width=The Fighting Illini swept the final four weeks of Big Ten Player of the Week awards, as senior David Kerian picked up the honor for a second time, announced the conference office Monday. Kerian led the Illini to the 2015 Big Ten title by hitting .667 with three runs, a home run and three RBI in two wins over Nebraska.

He helped Illinois keep the nation's longest winning streak (26) alive with a 3-for-4 performance including his Big Ten-leading 13th homer in a 10-9 win over the Huskers on Friday. The Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, native also leads the Big Ten in average (.383), slugging percentage (.661) and on-base percentage (.467) for the season. He extended his hitting streak to 17 games, one shy of his career high from earlier this year.

Illinois is the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament after wrapping up its 30th Big Ten Championship.

Illinois will play No. 8 seed Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
