Memorial Day Celebration Set In Clinton

Veterans and community members are invited out this weekend for a special event that is aimed to recognize those who have served our country from the Clinton and DeWitt County community.

For many, Memorial Day weekend is a time to gather together to kick off summer or celebrate graduation, but one local community activist is hoping residents will take a short break to come out and commemorate those who have served in Clinton. Leslie Andrews is coordinating this year's Memorial Day celebration and says there's something for everyone.

As a part of the morning ceremony, a couple keynote speakers will be there with brief speeches. According to Andrews, Joe Alexander will speak on the history of Memorial Day and long time Clinton resident, teacher, and Marine veteran, Ron Connor will speak as well.

Again the ceremony is May 25 at the Woodlawn Cemetery at 10 am. Veterans are invited as is the community.
