Maroa-Forsyth Wins Regional

Kate Beckemeyer was brilliant in the circle Saturday and led the Maroa-Forsyth Lady Trojans to a Regional title with a 6-1 win over the Monticello Lady Sages.

Beckemeyer went seven innings allowing a run on six hits, yielding two walks and striking out three.

The Lady Trojans got the game started with a bang. Beckemeyer started with a single, was bunted to second and Bailey Martin doubled Beckemeyer in, then two batters later, Danaed Santini doubled Martin. Santini came home on a passed ball during Ashlyn Hambrecht's first inning at-bat, ending the inning ahead 3-0.

 width=The Lady Trojans added more in the third as Bailey Martin singled to start the inning, moving two second on the first of four stolen bases for Maroa-Forsyth on the day. The next batter was Calla Wickenhauser who doubled Martin and Hambrecht, two batters later, singled Wickenhauser in for a 5-0 lead.

The Lady Trojans would add a run in the seventh for a 6-1 advantage.

Bailey Martin and Calla Wickenhauser each went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Denaed Santini 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Ashlyn Hambrecht added an RBI for the Lady Trojans who move to 16-7 on the year and will play at Tri-Valley Wednesday.

For the Lady Sages, Makayla Reedy finished 2-for-3. Sam Valentine, Sophie Catlin, Ashley Gulliford and Leslie Taylor each contributed a hit as a usually high powered offense was quieted by Beckemeyer Saturday.

Catlin took the loss in circle for the Lady Sages. She went seven innings allowing six runs on 12 hits, yielding just one walk and struck out six.

Monticello ends their season 25-8.
