Cubs Win On Walk Off, Cards Win; Sox Lose

width=>>Rookie Russell Gives Cubs Walk Off Win

Addison Russell doubled home Jonathan Herrera in the bottom of the ninth as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Washington Nationals 3-2 on Tuesday night.

After Chris Coghlan singled with one out off Matt Grace (2-1) in the ninth, Herrera reached on a fielder's choice and an error by shortstop Ian Desmond, then Russell ripped a 1-0 changeup into the left-center gap for the win.

Hector Rondon (3-0) earned the win for a scoreless ninth inning, helping the Cubs snap their two-game losing streak.

Dexter Fowler opened the scoring with a leadoff shot for the Cubs in the home first.

It remained that way until Bryce Harper tied the game with a solo blast off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks in the seventh, and Denard Span put the Nationals up 2-1 with a homer off Pedro Strop in the eighth.

Kris Bryant, who homered in Monday's series opener, launched his seventh homer of the season in the home eighth off Aaron Barrett to tie the game at 2-2.

Jaime Garcia (1-1) worked six innings for the win, allowing four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits with five strikeouts.

width=>>Donaldson Home Run Gives Blue Jays Walk Off Win Over Sox

Josh Donaldson hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Toronto Blue Jays 10-9 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

The walk-off blast to right field against White Sox closer David Robertson (3-1) capped a 4-for-4 performance for Donaldson and ended a wild game that saw the Blue Jays blow four leads and overcome a pair of two-run deficits.

Donaldson added a solo homer and scored five runs, while Jose Bautista had three doubles and five RBI in his return to the Toronto lineup. Bautista sat out the previous two games after receiving a cortisone shot on Sunday to relieve pain in his right shoulder.

The White Sox had scored three runs in the eighth to grab a 9-7 lead.

Adam Eaton singled home the tying run and scored the go-ahead run on an overturned call at first base. The Blue Jays appeared to turn an inning-ending double play on Jose Abreu's chopper to second, but the White Sox challenged Jordan Baker's out call.

Because of his hustle, Abreu narrowly beat the throw to first. He eventually scored on a single by Alexei Ramirez.

Robertson, who recorded the final out in the eighth with a runner at third, didn't retire a batter in the ninth. Josh Thole singled and Jose Reyes doubled before Donaldson homered, extending the Blue Jays' winning streak to three games.

Steve Delabar (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Toronto starter R.A. Dickey gave up five runs on eight hits and walked two in five innings.

Abreu hit a three-run homer for the White Sox, who have dropped four straight and seven of their last eight overall. Chicago starter John Danks allowed six runs on seven hits over five innings.
