During debate of several budget bills in the Illinois House Tuesday, the issue of a balanced budget clause in the state constitution was raised but requests to add a balanced budget note were rejected.

The nine budget bills in the House passed Thursday with most Democrats voting in favor. All Republicans and four Democrats voted “no” for most of the budget bills which calls into question whether there’s enough votes to override an expected veto from Governor Bruce Rauner.
