Storms Postpones Illinois/Vandy Game 2

The second of a three-game series of the super regional between Vanderbilt and Illinois has been postponed until Monday because of stormy weather.

 width=Officials told everyone to leave Illinois Field in Champaign on Sunday night as the skies darkened and lightning started flashing. The forecast calls for storms with high winds.

Jeren Kendall drove in three runs and Carson Fulmer pitched six nearly flawless innings as defending national champions Vanderbilt steamrolled Illinois 13-0 in the opening game of their best-of-three super regional Saturday night.

Fulmer (13-2) allowed four hits in 6 1-3 innings, striking out five and walking five.

Left-hander Kevin Duchene (11-2) took the loss for the Illini (50-9).

Game is scheduled for today at 3 p.m. CT. ESPN2 will televise the game live.

Game Three (if necessary) will be played on Tuesday, June 9. Start time and television are TBA.

Florida, Miami and Virginia all swept their best-of- three Super Regional matchups Saturday to advance to the College World Series. Florida has won nine straight games heading into the College World Series.

Arkansas and LSU each won their best-of-three Super Regional series Sunday to advance to the College World Series.
