IL NRLS Roadshow in Clinton Preview

Farmers and landowners from across the Clinton Lake watershed are encouraged to attend an important meeting Thursday morning in Clinton.

The Illinois Council of Best Management Practices and the Illinois Farm Bureau are hosting an "Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy Roadshow" event at Clinton's Warner Library. Lauren Lurkins, of the Illinois Farm Bureau, will be presenting the meeting. She explains the event is aimed at better educating local producers on the new Strategy, and how they can implement it on their operation.

According to Lurkins, many of the suggestions in the Strategy are likely already being used to some extent on local farming operations. However, she says the goal is to increase practices such as cover crops and drainage water management to not only reduce nutrient runoff, but in turn help the farmer's bottom line.
