Kevin Love has opted out of the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and will become a free agent on July 1, according to multiple reports.

Love told the Cavaliers on Wednesday he will decline the $16.7 million player option remaining on his deal for next season, ESPN reported.

The three-time All-Star forward joined the Cavs in a blockbuster trade last August but did not make it to the NBA Finals with them after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the first round against Boston.

Love had surgery on April 29 and was projected to miss up to six months.

The longtime Minnesota Timberwolves star averaged 16.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 75 games in his first season with the Cavs, making the playoffs for the first time in his career.
