Travelers Championship Opens In Connecticut

After a thrilling U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, the PGA Tour returns to the east coast for the Travelers Championship.

Bubba Watson and Sergio Garcia, who are both ranked in the top-10 in the world, are among 38 players that competed at the U.S. Open last weekend, who were expected to make the trek east to TPC River Highlands.

Kevin Streelman was eight strokes behind the leaders after 36 holes, but went 64-64 on the weekend to rally for his second PGA Tour title. While the win for Streelman was his second on tour, six of the last nine winners were first-time PGA Tour champions.

Streelman and Garcia are both in the field this week as are Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, Cameron Smith and Brandt Snedeker, who all finished in the top-10 last week at Chambers Bay.

Peter Uihlein, who was the No. 1 ranked amateur in collegiate days, will be playing on a sponsors exemption this week. Current amateurs Lee McCoy, who missed the cut at the U.S. Open, and Jon Rahm, who is currently the top-ranked amateur in the world, will also compete this week.
