Democrats say a property tax freeze bill they brought for a vote mirrored the Governor’s measure, just without the major element the Governor says would allow local governments the ability to control costs.

Regardless the measure failed to get enough support with 36 representatives voting present.

House Bill 692 failed with a vote of 41-21 with 36 voting present.
