During legislative hearings last week, the Illinois Senate held several hearings regarding higher education in Illinois, and one local lawmakers calls the hearings "a complete joke".
Senator Chapin Rose says the committee as a whole meetings held last week regarding higher education were a waste of time. He explains he wanted to ask questions of a University of Illinois representative because of their relevance to his district, but wasn't allowed to.
The Senator calls the whole process a waste of time and wonders why are they are there. He points on a number of occasions, they've not had enough Senate members present to conduct any business.
Sen. Rose adds, they also had the Illinois Director of Higher Education in to speak to them, but he couldn't finish his questioning of the Director.
