5 Royals in line to start All-Star Game

Five players on the Kansas City Royals are in line to start the All-Star Game, down from seven last week and eight the week before.

Over the past week, Toronto's Josh Donaldson moved ahead of Kansas City's Mike Moustakas to lead American League third baseman with more than 11.73 million votes -- tops in all of baseball.

Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales also lost his voting lead, to Seattle's Nelson Cruz.

Kansas City second baseman Omar Infante, shortstop Alcides Escobar, catcher Salvador Perez and outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon are still in line to be starters.

Detroit's Miguel Cabrera kept his lead on Kansas City's Eric Hosmer among first basemen and Angels star Mike Trout continues to lead outfielders in voting.

For the first time, All-Star voting is being conducted exclusively online. Fans are allowed to vote up to 35 times from one email address through the end of balloting at 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday.

The game is scheduled for July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
