Watson up to No. 3 in world rankings

Bubba Watson defeated Paul Casey on the second playoff hole Sunday to win the Travelers Championship and that helped Watson move up to No. 3 in the world rankings.

Watson, a two-time Masters winner, improved two spots in the rankings thanks to his eighth PGA Tour win.

Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth remained the top two players. With Watson's climb to third, Dustin Johnson dipped one to fourth. Jim Furyk and Henrik Stenson both moved up one to fifth and sixth.

Justin Rose tumbled three places to seventh and was followed by Jason Day, who remained No. 8 this week. Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia exchanged places with Fowler up to ninth.

Adam Scott stayed put at No. 11 and was again trailed by Jimmy Walker, J.B. Holmes, Hideki Matsuyama and Patrick Reed.

Matt Kuchar and Chris Kirk moved up one spot apiece to 16th and 17th, while Louis Oosthuizen tumbled two places to 18th. Billy Horschel and Phil Mickelson were 19th and 20th again this week.

Despite his loss, Casey improved from 35th to 23rd. Pablo Larrazabal won for the fourth time on the European Tour and jumped 49 places to No. 69.
