Giants Withdraw Long Term Offer To Pierre-Paul

The New York Giants are reportedly pulling a long-term contract offer for Jason Pierre-Paul off the table after the star defensive end suffered a hand injury in a fireworks mishap over the weekend.

width=Pierre-Paul was injured attempting to light fireworks on Saturday and needed hospitalization, according to multiple reports. The injury is not thought to be career threatening.

The Giants, who have not publicly acknowledged the incident, subsequently withdrew a $60 million long-term offer to the two-time Pro Bowl selection, NFL.com reported Monday.

According to the report, Pierre-Paul was not planning to accept the deal anyway.

The Giants used their franchise tag on the five-year veteran in March and he is expected to play next season for $14.8 million, though he has apparently not yet signed the tender.

Pierre-Paul, 26, was drafted by the Giants No. 15 overall in 2010 and has collected 42 sacks and 286 tackles in 75 NFL games.
