The Sheriff says the enforcement of issuing citations for cell phone use could pose a potential challenge for his office but says it may be something they start specifically looking for while on patrols.

Drivers may be incline to put cell phones away while in a town and then pull them out when they get to county or state highways but the Sheriff says that is not any better. Sheriff Shofner explains because your speeds are increased in those areas, it actually makes using a cell phone even more dangerous.

Sheriff Shofner says motorists and society survived decades behind the wheel without being connected to what was happening and says no one's safety should come second to that.
