County Board Chair Discusses H&M Trucking, County's Role in the Matter

Thursday night's DeWitt County Board meeting was attended by more than usual thanks to an issue that has a lot of the community concerned.

Odors permiating from a pond at H&M Trucking outside Clinton have residents across the community concerned and Thursday night, a group voiced their concerns and frustrations with the County Board hoping to find aid from the leaders of the County.

Board Chair David Newberg sympathizes with the group of residents and feels both parties are frustrated by the situation but wants the County, the group of residents and the business to work together to find a resolution. Newberg also feels the best avenue for action should be through the State's Attorney.

Community leaders have recognized this issue could be viewed as targeting H&M Trucking however Newberg sides with others that have voiced an opinion relating to not targeting H&M but rather working alongside them as a community partner to remedy a temporary problem. He hopes for a positive solution for everyone.
