Social Security fraud continues to be a problem and the government agency is seeking to crack down on it using the public's help.
Jack Myers with Social Security indicates fraud through Social Security is something that seems to always be prevalent, and with that in mind, they are taking measures to stop it.
To fight fraud, Social Security has started a partnership with the Office of Anti-Fraud Programs administered through the Office of the Inspector General. Myers indicates they will lead investigations for fraud, both internally and externally.
Myers indicates, the public is also instrumental in helping fight fraud through Social Security. He explains there is a hotline for tips to be given to Social Security. The website is oig.ssa.gov/report or you can call 800-269-0271.
Tips can be made anonymously and Myers says as much information that can be provided is always more helpful.
