Social Security Promoting My Social Security Accounts at State Fair

If you're headed to the State Fair this week, make plans to stop the Social Security booth in the Illinois Building to learn more about an account that can personally help you through all things Social Security.

Jack Myers with Social Security will be at the booth and can assist anyone in setting up ad "My Social Security Account". According to Myers, an account is set up through their website that will inform younger workers of their earnings records and what their future Social Security earnings could look like.

A "My Social Security Account" might best be used for those who are currently receiving benefits. According to Myers, an account will allow you to see what your payment history and access information for needs based programs.

Myers calls the Social Security system a purchase of insurance or a retirement benefit, and feels it is worth knowing what exactly you're purchasing.
